News Item - May 2004 "Scientists tackle the decline in male fertility" Australia's leading experts are meeting on May 14th to "discuss the effects that environmental factors such as pollutants, cigarette smoke and exposure to chemicals are having on the huge increase in male infertility and the rates of testicular cancer, both in Australia and worldwide." Previously research has been directed at the immediate effects of environmental factors on individuals. Now the evidence is mounting on the long term effects on DNA that environmental toxicants are causing. Scientists have found "that there is an urgent need to develop new tests for the effects of environmental chemicals." |
