2004 has been proclaimed the Year of the Built Environment across Australia.

The Year of the Built Environment 2004 will complement two key programs announced recently by the Australian Government:

• The Distinctively Australian Heritage programme ..... and the
  
  
• The Sustainable Cities programme, ...... - a $40 million package over five years to make Australian cities and towns cleaner and more sustainable. It will focus on improving the environment for the 17 million Australians who live in towns and cities."
