![]() | Design Issue: The Time-Out Childcare Centre is a modern and attractive Childcare Centre situated in a busy inner city suburb of Melbourne. The centre provides children and staff with a truly unique environment. It offers it's clients and staff a comfortable, quiet and stimulating environment in which to play and work. Energy efficiency and noise control were seen as critical components to the design of this facility. Problem: The 'tightness' of the building due to the focus on energy efficiency and noise control proved to be a problem with poor indoor air quality issues arising (high humidity and odours) in certain areas of the centre. Solution: In order not to compromise the major design features and also manage the air quality within the building, the owners have incorporated the Venmar Advanced Ventilation system into part of the Centre. The Venmar system allows the building to 'breathe' without compromising the energy efficiency or noise minimisation features of the centre. The Venmar system, provides fresh, filtered air to the building while extracting the stale, polluted air. Relative Humidity is also controlled through the continuous exhausting of the moisture-laden . This in turn assists in reducing the longevity of bacteria and viruses in the airstream. Energy is conserved through the energy recovery capabilities of the system (70% to 80% recovery). Two Venmar AVS Solo 2.0 HRV systems were recommended and installed.
